Three steps

Open Vaulith-mac.dmg from your Downloads.
Drag Vaulith into Applications.
Open it, then click Open on the one-time confirmation.

That prompt is Gatekeeper checking our signature. Vaulith is signed and notarized by Apple (Team F82V4P432D), so a real copy opens with a normal click. If macOS ever calls your copy unsigned or damaged, it didn’t come from us — delete it and re-download.

Windows

Two steps, one heads-up

Run Vaulith-windows.exe and follow the installer.
If SmartScreen appears, click More info → Run anyway — once.

Why the prompt appears: the installer is Authenticode-signed by Vaulith LLC — confirm it under right-click → Properties → Digital Signatures. SmartScreen also scores publisher reputation, which new publishers earn over time. Never click through for an unsigned installer claiming to be Vaulith.

Trust, but verify — before you even open it

You just downloaded a program that will ask for delete rights. That’s the moment to be skeptical — so confirm your download is byte-for-byte the build we published:

Expected: Vaulith-mac.dmg: OK. On Windows: certutil -hashfile Vaulith-windows.exe SHA256, then compare against the matching line in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Then run the deeper test: watch Vaulith’s network activity during your first scan. It takes about a minute, and a standing invitation: anyone who proves our claim false gets a public disclosure, a shipped fix, and named credit.

What to expect from the first run

No account, no card. The free tier runs without signing in. That’s a ledger claim; here’s its test.
Nothing is permanently deleted. Removals go to a restorable Quarantine, then your OS Trash.
Sensitive files are protected. Tax-, ID-, medical-, legal-, and financial-looking files are excluded from bulk deletion.
Honest numbers. The promised space never overstates what deleting will free — cloud-only placeholders are never counted — disproving test included.
A letter grade, graded on your computer. A whole-machine scan earns a Privacy & Storage Report Card — computed on-device, never uploaded, and the scoring math is public.
